Is that romance in the air or do I smell chocolate?!? For years couples have been choosing to celebrate their love with chocolates and sweets and this year in Greenville will be no exception. As you plan your visit, I thought we could help you narrow down some of our favorites. From the inn you can stroll to some of these while others are perfect for a short car ride.
Since we are enjoying (opinions vary) Greenville’s cold season I will say one of my favorite spots is Kilwin’s for their rich and delicious hot chocolate made even better with a chocolate dipped Oreo for dunking! Further down Main Street you can find Soby’s for their White Chocolate Banana Cream Pie, a popular staple for years! Next you can wander your way into Le Petit Croissant for any number of sweet treats including chocolate macarons. Check their calendar as you may get lucky enough to enjoy one of their classes. Keep strolling or hop on the trolly to Brick Street Café. A Greenville original known for their Sweet Potato Cake, but why would I get that when instead I can get the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake!
A short 1.5-mile drive away you can find Clare’s Creamery for all your small batch ice cream needs. Now I will always suggest the Chocolate Fudge Brownie, you are welcome to try any flavor. Don’t forget to check out their seasonal menu as well. Practically across the street will be Scout’s Doughnuts. Made of many flakey layers and topped or filled with an assortment of yummy flavors, but I have a hard time not getting the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt doughnut. It would be a great idea to pick up a latte while you’re there. Five minutes from there you will find yourselves at The Chocolate Shoppe, home to the best classic Chocolate Chip Cookies around.
For a chocolate experience that can include chocolate dipped pretzels, truffles, and chocolate drizzled fruit cups you should visit Chocolate Artworks in Mauldin or check their social media pages to find their food truck.
Of course, we cannot have this discussion without talking about LaRue Fine Chocolate! Voted number 1 “Best Chocolate Shop in America” by USA Today, you will find small batch chocolates (I will take a Sweet Kentucky please), a curated wine list, craft cocktails, and a small menu of sweet and savory bites. I think this may have everything you need for a romantic evening!
These are our friendly suggestions for you to pick and choose from, but if you want someone else to do all the work you can join the “Just Desserts Tour”. Starting at the Westin Poinsett you will enjoy a two-hour tour to multiple restaurants and learn some of Greenville’s history as you go.
